Title: Vase, blue suspended tear drop bubble in base...origin?
Post by: Max on May 09, 2008, 05:45:12 PM
I had trouble deciphering the photo's when I bought this, and I'm no nearer to knowing anything about this vase now it's in my hands!

My first thought is that it's Czech, because those colours just don't say Italian to me.  The suspended bubble is interesting, there's no hole at the base (which shows considerable wear) I guess there was a gather of glass over it.

It's 21cm high (yay! I've gone European!) and a peculiar pinkish orange.  Any ideas??  Thanks. xx

Looks like Adam Jablonski to me  :-\

The last photo is a little misleading.  The bubble isn't suspended so far away from the base.

Hmm...Leni...you could be right!  I'll have a dig around. x

The Jablonskis sign all their work as far as I know, so I would think Chrbska or Skrdlovice.

I thought only the 'Studio' pieces by Adam Jablonski himself were signed, and that the 'ordinary' pieces weren't signed   Where did I get that idea?  I can never remember  :-[  ::)

Thanks Krsilber  ;)

I was hoping Skrdlovice Ivo, but it doesn't seem entirely right.  Maybe Chribska then...I'll ask Marcus to have a look when he's got a moment.

Thanks Leni, I've become a bit rusty on glass, and need propping up a bit with makers until I get my 'glass head' screwed back on again (ouch!).  Jablonski is a good hunch.

Anyway, you can see why this one left me a bit confused...just plain odd, isn't it?!  I like odd though.   ;)

Not the same but the nearest I've found with a label so far http://www.everettgallery.net/3dartists/euport/flarevase.htm
I've seen many on the bay over the years but I don't remember one with the base bubble. Ed.

I have searched many times and finally I have now found the Chribska company website.
The colored bubble seems to be a recent addition to a Chribska classic form as I suspected.
