Hi,
I have posted images of this very rare find on http://www.whitefriars.com/bb_orig/viewtopic.php?t=1696
The glasses and jug designed by Barnaby Powell with the mitre cut figures designed by my Father Edmond Hogan circa 1934. ( When the Belisha beacon was invented )
This complete set was found by Ray Annenberg in a shelf of junk china at a local auction house. Ray very kindly parted with them to me.
Regards Patrick.

Ray has a wonderfully keen eye! Well done Ray and Patrick. :)

Wonderful, and brilliant to keep it in the family Patrick! I love the figures are formed with such simple cuts.

Whilst thumbing through my copy of British Glass Between the Wars (editied by Roger Dodsworth, published by Dudley Leisure Services for Broadfield House Glass Museum, 1987, ISBN 0 900911 22 0) I spotted a sherry glass with the same style of decoration (page 93 if anyone wants to check the book) which is shown as being designed by Ernest Procter for Stuart & Son, Stourbridge, c.1934.
Just flagging it up in case anyone comes across one which isn't a Whitefriars item and needs to know who else was doing these designs.

Hi Anne,
Some years ago there was a shop on Kensington Church street that had a water set with the similar cut figures on it. It was unsold for a few months and then someone bought the set and stuck it in a big London auction house glass sale. I think it doubled it's price, perhaps Nigel can tell us the whole story as he must have passed the shop everyday.
Regards,
Patrick.
Ps. I think it was Stuart.
