This is badly water stained but i like it and was wondering if it was worth getting it polished?
-
I would say well worth it as long as it hasnt been scoured by anyone
it should only cost a tenner if you take it to Basil at Brackley.
That range is quite sought after and i have not seen that shape over many years.JP
OR GIVE IT TO ME.
-
Thank you JP, is it Orrefors ? and what are the initials?
-
The last two letters are O/F that is how they used to sign some items
I will check the rest and get back but i am sure Ivo or Bill Geary will know straight off. JP
YES 100% ORREFORS
N = NILS LANDBERG H I BELIEVE IS HALD, IS THERE ANY ENGRAVING THAT MAY EXPLAIN THE TWO LETTERS.
-
I'm having difficulty making the letters out. Do you see, "h & n of"? If so, I thought the "of" for orrefors was always first, followed by designer, model number, date (code), and engraver, if any. Or is the picture upside down and the letters should read, "fg U 84"? Or have I stayed up too late and just can't see properly? Sorry to confuse the issue.
David

Yeah, the picture is upside down ;D
-
WOOPS Best not to go on the forum when tired stressed or drunk.or all three i did wonder why no pontil.
how embarrassing.sorry, funny thing there is a similar vase in the catalogue.
-
No the picture is not upside down as this symbol "&" would look oddd, also it does have a pontil.
The sig is inside the pontil.

Being serious, could it be hsn 5f? The 'o' looks a bit odd.
-
Well i have been into the loft to find two bowls in this range
that i have had for many years, one is signed Orrefors G U 80
The other is signed O f , either 32 or 52 then underneath G U 69
That stands for Simon Gate hand formed,i hope this will help.
embarrassment over. ps the o has the little squiggle. :spls: :hiclp: :chky:
