Hi all.
I've just bought my 35th Okra paperweight. On ebay, from the USA.
Lovely irridescent piece with surface decoration. Dated 1984.
And signed with the initials BOP.
Anyone know who the artist is with those intials?
Thanks.

Richard rarely signed his name either in full or initials in those days the letters BOP relate to the design name. I will check my bibles and get back to you. There were no other people working with Richard in those days.

I think what you have is a gold PW with a black flower and the letters stand for
BO = Black Orchid P = Paperweight

Thanks Mike.
I'm not sure about the black orchid.
If you want to see a picture, you could look at it on ebay at

Related to OKRA but a little off topic. I have a slice of a cane that is ostensibly a signature cane reading "OKRA". Anyone know if this cane was ever used in any Okra glass object?
-
I will see Richard on Mon and ask him for you.

Hope this might be of some interest but, although I am sure they were not sold as a pair, there is a Black Orchid Perfume Bottle to go with this weight. I have them both and my weight is signed Okra 85 BOP 153

Black Orchid was made as a range including various types of perfume bottles and vases during the middle 80's and Richard still makes one off pieces in that design with a slight twist to each one.

Thanks for the info Scimiman. Richard didn't happen to mention when he used the signature cane?
-
No.
I'll see him again on Fri and ask him. Dont know why I didnt ask him anyway. Another senior moment.

Scimiman - just a reminder to ask Richard about the "when" on the signature cane use. I'm counting on you.

Spoke with Richard about the Okra cane you have. It came about when Moorcroft took the company over 1999 and they thought it would be nice, Moorcroft that is, to have a cane when they found out how long it was going to take and that Richard was the only person with the skill to make them it was dropped quicker than a piece of hot glass in your hands.
