Hi All,
I have come across this quite pretty Jug and Vase set. I have no idea what it is insofar as maker or type of glass. The pontil on the jug has been ground out and part polished. The bodies of the items are not truly 'circular' as there are 'flats' all around them. The jug measures 21cm x 10cm and the glasses 14cm x 7cm. I am awaiting a black light to arrive to see if the bases on them fluoresce as it is possibly uranium. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello jadegmh
This is a lovely set and looks as tho it could well be vaseline glass. This yellow vaseline is less common than the green and a particular interest of mine these days.
The "flats" are known as vertical (optical) ribbing and should be felt only on the inside. Are they ?
I believe the feet would have been separate components. I'm not sure if the ''pontil" can be counted as such but in any case, I believe, not so telling as the pontil on a piece which had no foot. I hope to be corrected on this if wrong.
A closer look at the handle, especially at the join would be interesting. A pic and comments could be helpful.
I don't feel able to judge yet where it may be from but I'm leaning towrads 30s -50s Bohemia / Czech but there are several other possiblilites. It would be helpful to know which country you are in to help discount some of those possibilities.

I have uploaded some pictures of the handle and base of the jug. The ribbing, as you mentioned, is in fact on the inside of the jug and glasses. I hope this is of more help. Many thanks once again.
