Russian, Bulgarian, Belorossijan, Ukrainian or Serbian are possible, even probable - but not Turkish. I had the sig mirrored, inverted and upside downed but that did not help. It may be cursive cyrillic.

I've rotated it so many times now i am not sure which is the way it started
Do you read it through the base, or with the glass upside down? At least that would narrow it down to 2 choices.
I think i have it down to l'iiiiilN'hi, who as far as i can tell are not one of the big boys. The other one is exactly the same both acid etched so it must be a "proper make"
If i could work the 1st letter Replacement.com would probably do the rest for me

If cursive cyrillic you'd start with Stshu - but it really is not for us mortals to decypher.

It almost looks like an badly-etched Cambri..., in a sort of Germanic text with the last few letters not printed. But Cambridge was always C in a triangle, wasn't it?

Ivo,
I was wondering why i picked Turkey out of the air, i think its because of the
cresent moon in their flag, looks a teeny bit like the first part of signature ;D
Theres some funny things going on in my braincells

Cumbria!!

I still couldnt see it, but, Anne, you're absolutely right :hiclp:
and the 'ambleside' is the same, uncut.
Also, Dave brought the glasses to show me, and forgot them  when he went , so i have them, and they
are 19cm tall!

Cumbria is quite exotic :D

Dave, its good crystal, about £50 a glass, but cant see your pattern.

Thanks all,
Andy

Phew, wasn't too far off with my Cambri then... Thought I must have been mad that I couldn't see the cyrillic :D

:hiclp: :hiclp: Thanks very much for that Anne. Although i still can't see that last "a" , but maybe in the flesh it will be clearer.
On replacements Buttermere has no photos, & did have a Flute, it must be discontinued as it is not on the Cumbria site so can't be sure. I did try a google but no joy there either.
Now if i can just get Andy to give them back i can sell them for £2.99 ;D
