Just had this delivered, Frank , i feel i may find it on your website somewhere? will
have a look when i get more time ;) (not being lazy, may take you 2 seconds, maybe not)
Its 6 5/8" tall, Rim 5 7/8" wide, has an overlapping rim (pic4)
polished pontil, some age wear , lighter (weight) than i expected. 500g.
smooth outside, you can feel texture of bubbles inside.
Maybe its a Scotty ;D
Thanks for any help,
Andy

Oh, that's Frank's favourite colour... >:D
-
I think it might be wearing black tights and white shoes and dancing round its handbag at the other end of the UK, maybe
-
Hi Andy,
Nazeing Funnel vase turn-over rim and what appears to be a pre-war pontil, shape number 37/55 if pre-war, and 78/1 if post-war. You got that one a bit cheap ;)
Ta ta, Nigel
-
BINGO, it's an Essex gal, I must be learning something 8)
-
Thanks all,
Nigel, i thought maybe Nazeing, just found similar in a Millers 30s book, and couldnt
match a Monart.
Cheap? you say, I will have you know i paid nearly £5 for it ;D
I take it you may have noticed it on a certain auction website.
(i see a similar one on your website price range B) :hiclp:
Cheers
Andy

The original thread where Frank gave his opinion of the Nazeing green has gone, but if you follow this link (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,1024.msg5645.html#msg5645) to Frank's post, you'll find a reference which leaves no doubt. >:D
Is this counted as May Green, Nigel?
-
Well one of the two Nazeing collectors is Nigel ,but i bet they both have one.JP :chky:
-
Or is it what Frank calls Puke Green
:D
(JP is that the only 2 Nazeing collectors in the world? )
-
Sorry Andy, I was just being very naughty and wibbling in your thread. Some years ago, Frank started a thread on ugly glass, and posted a vase not unlike this as the ugliest he knew of. Just thought it was amusing that you'd asked him specifically. (Small things amuse small minds and all, you know ;D )
-
No worries Cathy, its just i opened the parcel, and thought it had to be a Scotty,
so i thought Frank would know, quite happy with Nazeing :D
you wibble away to your hearts content.
Andy ;)
(but its not ugly! its very pretty!)

Nazeing did a lot of very nice desirable stuff too and I think quite a few collectors. Unfortunately there is now a lot of confusion as to what is and what isn't Nazeing so, I tend to not give opinions on possibles that are not shown in a Nazeing catalogue.
My reference bowl happens to be what I did call puke green and it just happens to be a very ugly bowl, I sold all the nice bits a loong time ago. Although I may well have some odd bits from the factory unrecognised in the industrial section as well as some glasses they probably made.

Hi All,
Yes Andy, Cathy is quite correct in saying that the colour is 'May Green'.
Sorry, I was in a rush to get off to the opening of the Hi Sklo Lo Sklo exhibition with a private view for the Glass Association when I posted. I realised that I'd missed it out too late.
Many more than two collectors of Nazeing, John. When it appears that there's nothing going on, that's the time to buy - look at the Czech glass at the current exhibition; not all collectors of that are broadcast abroad. If anything they prefer privacy :)
Oh yes Andy I was watching, but 'May Green' is the commonest colour, so I abstained, already having a duplicate, but it still went well at below par ;) Lucky ol' you :)

Thanks Nigel et al on this one.
its in the market place.

Hi Nigel i believe it was you told me about the two collectors at Reflect 2008 dont you remember i was sitting on the throne in the back room with Ray , :chky: i know it was tongue in cheek thats why i couldnt resist bringing it up. Do you want to buy my Jan Gabrhel pieces i have had them all of twenty years. >:D JP

H'mmm back online after two weeks of problems, Arghhh!!
Well now, yes please John, I'd love to buy 'em. I'm sure you'll have prices on all of them ;)
