9,5 cm = 3.3/4" crystal item with an airbubble in the foot; the airbubble is surrounded by a circular ring; and the outside has a single cutting groove around the air ring. The result is a most confusing piece of crystal, also becuse the size of the air ring is different if you look at it from above or from the side.
Suggestions, anyone?

Hi Ivo! I say put a candlestick in it.

Ivo, could it be a measure-type stopper for a spirit decanter perhaps? Would that work size-wise?

@ vintagerose: Thank you for the suggestion. I tried, but at diameter 32mm it is a bit large so standard candles flop over. If it is, it is not for present day standard candles.
@ Anne: Good thinking, it contains around 2,5 ml so it might be a posh bar measure! I don' think it is a stopper though - I cannot see the rounded shoulders sit in the neck of a decanter.

Ivo,
I make candles. One type of candle that could be used for your crystal is a pure beeswax candle. They are pliable and can be rolled into any size you like. I could easily put one of these handrolled candles in there.
I have seen an increase of candlesticks very similar to yours made in Portgual. I found it odd when I first saw them, but I continue to see glass from portgual lately.
How heavy is it? How good of ring does it have when you click it?
I do find it attractive as a candlemaker.

Thanks. Portugal is a very sensible suggestion, I would not be surprised if it is an Atlantis piece! There are no seams, as the item is hand made crystal.
