I have had this in the back of a cupboard for ages, meaning to ask about it, and have finally taken the photo!
It looks Swedish with funny line decoration, rather like Michael Bang, but I am not sure if anthing was made in milk glass.

Any ideas?

Skruf Edenfalk I think.

Hi Ivo,
Many thanks for the ID, I did wonder if it was Kastrup, as I have had a green bottle with a plaque on the front with the same sort of decoration, and it still had its label on, so I knew who made that one!
Is milk glass very common in the Scandinavian countries? I know it is in the USA, and was in the UK about 100 years ago.

just wait for someone to confirm or deny. I've never seen Bang in this style, and I have a clear goblet marked with a crowned S.

Hi Ivo,
Yes that looks like it, very simple decoration but very effective.
I have looked all over it but can't see any marks.

I can add a snippet of information. I have a couple of pieces of iridised milk glass made by Riihimaki circa 1920-30s. I would consider their iridised milk glass to be very scarce.

Oh Glen,
Thanks for that, my other half now thinks I've gone mad as I have just been looking for the sun to see what happens with this one and the masonic one when I hold them up to the light, as to be honest I thought they were similar.
But now I have them both out together I can see they are completely different, the Skruf one has a blue tint but does have an orange fire around the rim when held up to the light, and feels warmer to the touch than the Victorian one. That feels solid and dense, more like pottery and shows no other colour. It is very hard to describe so I hope you know what I am babbling on about :-\
Would you think it dates from the 1950's with the decoration?

In addition, many moons later....
Just bought one of these in clear glass and noticed it is a little bigger than the one I have in opaque white glass, almost 2cm taller and a little bigger in diameter.
I wonder how many more colours they were made in?

I was confused for a moment until I realised BJB and Glassobsessed were the same Barbara, perhaps Anne could change one of your names for the other! ;D

also available in blue

Michael Bang never worked for Kastrup - the bottle your describe sounds more like Jacob Bang's 'Antikgrøn' series. But this bears no relation to it.

Help, I must have had a sex change and no one has told me! I know I am a bit 'slow' at times but I should have noticed. Still, it does bring to mind some interesting possibilities for someone as depraved as myself.....
Also, thanks Ivo.
John (last time I checked).

I thought you were referring to the one that started the thread and you are both in the same part of the world
-
Sorry Christine, I took no offence.
Funnily enough, Barbara who started the thread sold a white one on ebay, I saw her auction and asked her about her attribution. I had bought a white one the previous day at a flea market and was surprised at such a quick chance of finding out more about it. She emailed me a link to this thread, possibly the first time I heard off the good ship GMB. I fancied a pair of them and so bid on her auction but did not bid high enough.
I do like 'naive' and also 'primitive' influenced art, these pieces fit the bill, I would also like more Eric Hoglund and nudging the top of my wish list is one of the sculptures by Ann and Goran Warff for Kosta (pictured on the front of Smoke and Ice). So if anyone out there has a spare one just gathering dust that they do not want......
Oh well, it is fun to dream (but nicer to have).
John.

Just wrote these are Spiegelau, but I think I´ll have to check the pattern again. There´s a labelled set in a shop close to where I live... :)
-
Found them online also. The pattern´s close to very close, but not an exact match. Someone´s got inspired...

Intriguing, thanks Dirk.
Could have been licensed instead of inspired I guess. The texture is different too, the Spiegelau version looks like lots of dots rather than a 'dense' texture.
