Larry Selman is well known as 'the' West Coast weight dealer, publisher and author. His auctions are always an enjoyable view as they contain some of the best art in paperweights, they attract serious money too. A new Stankard sculptural piece would require a second mortgage. Here is one of the types that brought Stankard to the fore:

America certainly leads on Art weights.

Wow :o
Base view is very strange! (and a bit disturbing!)

I'm not a paperweight person but had to buy a copy of "Paul J Stankard - Homage to Nature" by Ulysses Grant Dietz. isbn 0810944731. One of my best glass books!

That link does not take me to a Stankard weight. It's a page advertising the next auction.
I love Stankard's natural looking flowers. Not crazy about the ones with the little naked people in them.

Navigate via Modern Paperweights to locate Stankard.

His flowers look so real. They don't have that artificial 'perfect' look like in most other weights. Real flowers have some irregularity and asymmetry to them and he mimics this perfectly.
I love the color balance in his Pineland Pickerel Weed Bouquet.
He's definitely out of reach for me, Maybe some day. :)

I thought he was out of reach for me a long time ago, in hindsight it would have been a good investment. His ability is as good as his conceptuality.
