Title: Ruby Pitcher... Not Quite Whitefriars 9561
Post by: Pinkspoons on August 03, 2008, 05:20:45 PM
Picked this up today for not an awful lot of money, because I vaguely recalled it from the Whitefriars catalogues. Just got home to look it up, and it turns out to be very similar.... but different.

It's an inch too short, the base is too wide, and the handle is plain and not reeded. *tuts* But going for the jug is an exact colour match to WF's Ruby, a very very close match in form (base diameter aside), and very nice quality. Also, I just noticed, the bottom half of my pitcher has the same width and proportions as the similar 9508 pitcher.

Plausibly something 'a bit off-kilter' sold through their factory shop....? Or just an accidental lookalike hailing from elsewhere? I think I've been too spoiled by Holmegaard, who sold many many unique and odd pieces through their shop, so now my first thought for any other factory is that same possibility!  ::)

And my pitcher (apologies for the poor photograph - too worn out to set up the lighting, and my camera seems to be driven crazy by this colour without it!):

Now reasonably assumed to be Polish.

Nic, Looks a dead ringer for 9561 except of course for the handle.

Keep a little window of option open for Boussu, Belgium.

A photo of the 'real deal' for comparison quite a scarce one.
