Title: my first tangoglas - attributions?
Post by: dirk. on August 06, 2008, 02:47:46 PM
hello!

just got this from a last week's ebay-auction with "buy it now"-option.
photo was awful, category far from antique... i couldn't resist.

it doesn't look like a mispurchase after all. it has a polished pontil and seems
to be genuine.
the shape of the feet (by the way- what would be a correct term for it?)
makes me think it's rather late 20's.
is there a way to attribute it to a certain glassworks?
I know several made "tangoglas", but i couldn't find images of this special
piece yet.

regards,
dirk

Hello Dirk,

Colour, black rim & style of feet & pontil all say Loetz to me. A lovely piece. See this item in the 'Ausfuhrung 166' decor, c.1918 for comparison.

thanks, Steven!

yours is really amazing and actually the similarity concerning
colour cannot be denied.
I'm still a bit puzzled about the feet for I've seen several items
with globular ones, but none made in such a way before.
do you think they implicate a later date of production?
