I have no idea.
Prob came from a car boot but I have had it for around 5 years.
12" high 7" wide Very heavy

Is that an oval polished pontil on the base ? or a shadow ?
The decor screams Chinese (or another non traditionally glass producing country) to me but that could just be a prejudice so take no notice. Some Murano looks way more dotty than this and is worth a fortune.

No The pontil mark is polished round.

Round polished pontil is good. Perfectly round and perfectly polished to a smooth convex lens is as good as you can get.Polished pontils are very unusual in Murano but not unknown.
However I'm now thinking Romanian. The Romanians have done some very accomplished glass which looks Murano in style as is most often attributed thus. Those better quality types most often do have polished pontils.
This is still a guesstimate until one with a label can be found or, miraculously, a catalogue.

If you are thinking of selling it then I'd major on it's unusually funky retro decor credentials rather than stress about maker.

I get a Murano or Czech feeling for the basket. Fratelli Toso did some similar dotted bowls, but I have never seen this shape in one of their baskets. The pontil area looks very much like theirs. This type of pontil wasn't exclusive to them, though. The Fratelli Toso dot bowls I have seen have all had green dots, along with the other colors.
The basket looks like a quality piece of art glass. If it is Chinese (which I doubt) it would be among their better pieces. I favor 1960s south-central Europe.

I have 2 Toso baskets. One is shown in Pina Century 20. Neither have polished pontils. Both are sommerso.
Seguso also did baskets but non I have seen in that book or elsewhere have been quite this shape.
Can you give a book ref or provide a pic for the Toso dotted items, Anita ? Thanks

Leslie Pina has one of the Toso polka dot bowls on page 175 of Italian Glass Century 20. After a close look, I see there the inside bottom is peppered with gold. I see these bowls occasionally in online stores. I haven't owned one yet.
Fratelli Toso had two types of bases on their heavy bowls. Some are flat and highly polished. Others have a thumbprint-indented circular pontil that is well polished. I've wondered if the ones with the indented pontils may be mid-60s and later. I've not seen any bowls that I know are from the 1950s with this type of pontil. I had a catastrophic deletion of my Fratelli Toso photo folder a few months ago, so don't have any of my old pictures. I found an eBay Starry Nights bowl that appears to have the indented pontil (Item 110278805249) for anyone who would like to check.

Ah yes there it is. The notation does say "possibly" Toso which is worrying given that we are relying on Pina here.
Anyway I don't see a lot of resemblance apart from the presence of large blue and red dots but granted it does point to the possibility of Murano. I actually much prefer Mike's piece to the one in the book ! I'm actually getting to quite like it. Help !!! LOL Pete

just a hunch, it says Czech to me, Kralik or similar maybe,not that i can find it anywhere ::) any age wear to it??

Hi Andy.
Yes there is wear to the base but hard to put any numbers on it.
Someone did suggest it could be Wedgewood, I looked into it but cant see that somehow.
