Hi Frank, Sorry about that - had my camera set wrong so poor pix.  Anyways, it says on it:

U.K. PAT NO. 1014132.
Sticker says: Elegance       SILVER PLATED         Steel

I hope that helps.  If only I had the *Pepper* shaker too..

Why are you saying salt shaker? It could be a pepper shaker, with the salt being in a small bowl called, logically enough, a salt.

Hi Carolyn:

If you look at the last pic posted here, you will see that there are holes punched in the lid/top of it in the shape of the letter *S* - so that is why I am referring to it as a Salt shaker (not pepper shaker)

 ;)

Hadn't noticed that. That would definitely convince me  ::)  My mother had two little salts that were blue glass with silver stands, so that's why my mind went that way.

Hi Folks,

Just stumbled on this. We are having a moving sale and I came across these salt and pepper shakers that my Mother handed down to me.

UK Patent # 1014132 (Made in Hong Kong).

I have 2 Salt and 2 Pepper Shakers. I know this because of the "S" on 2 of them and a "P" on the other 2.

I'm not really a glass collector so I wouldn't mind parting with them. I can send pictures if anyone would like to see them.

FYI. Have a great day.

I have seen these (a couple of times matter of fact) with the British patent No. & on the other side of the curve "made in Occupied Japan"....I never knew quite what to make of them.

At least that inscription provides a date of 1946–52.

I wonder how many other imprints are found on these. But the patent number appears to date from 1965....

**JUST an UPDATE on this item:

This piece flew the coop to USA to a new GMB member that happen to be looking for one like this.

Since I have received gifts from other members here on the board -- I too -- Have "Played it forward" with a gift to a GMB Member looking for the other half of a pair of these.

I also had sent one of my ROBERT HELD Hearts to another GMB member in the USA in the past

Kindness to all!!   :)
