Bought a few paperweights because I like them but really not certain what they are. The first has a dark purple cushion with two rows of canes and a candle and holder in the middle. Not very big about 2" or 5cms diameter. Flat polished bottom.

Looks like Edinburgh Crystal.

Candlestick looks a bit crude unless this was a post Caithness 'Edinburgh' design link (http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=2815&category_id=235&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=51)
some EC (http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=305&Itemid=51) I'd welcome more examples of EC weights.

I'll see if I can get a better photo Frank. The candlestick is quite good actually-well IMHO.
-
Does one of the canes have an "E" in the centre?
-
That appears to be a mini caithness weight.
-
Got it!
It's a version of Caithness "Miniature Candle" CT-643 designed by Allan Scott and issued in 1988 in the "millefiori miniatures" series. Original issue price, as per the Charlton Guide. second edition, was £30.00. But the design as issued was faceted - 5 side windows and a top one.
Maybe this unfaceted one was a "trial" piece, or more likely, a second (it has one "laid over" cane and another cane seems smaller than the rest) but possibly not marked as such and not originally sold through the shop with other seconds.
-
Yes I thought it was a second quality weight with the laid over cane and one appears to have a slice off the edge.
-
If it does not have CIIG on the flat polished base it may be because someone has polished the markinngs off....
