Title: What would you call this rim shape?
Post by: krsilber on August 24, 2008, 07:58:01 PM
Somehow "scalloped" doesn't quite fit here - or does it?  What would you call an edge like this, where the arcs are only a bit over a centimeter long?

Scalloped will do, or 'bumpy bits' if you really want another option  >:D

Bernard discusses nomenclature of edge treatments here (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,21149.msg119483.html#msg119483). Given the response he had, it doesn't seem to be particularly well defined at the moment. "Scalloped" seems to cover everything.

Scalloped ~ no doubt whatsoever.

Scalloped it is then!  Thanks for your input, all.  As Cathy points out, the term seems to cover quite a range, which was one reason I hesitated - normally it calls to mind something else for me, but I guess it's mostly a matter of scale.

Bumpy bits (or bitty bumps) would be my personal preference, but somehow it doesn't sound quite as professional.
