Glass has kept me really busy recently!
I wondered if some of you might be interested in my latest and biggest project yet.
I've just finished engraving (using a flexidrive drill and small hand drills) a large church screen. It measures over 6 feet wide by over 4 and half feet high.
It's in my work in progress album on www.picturetrail.com/sueburne
I also have a smaller piece (a plate) in the Guild of Glass Engravers' Exhibition at the Red House Cone in Stourbridge at the moment and I have a new website www.sueburne.co.uk
Best wishes
Sue

Good work and fascinating to see the process. Thread should be in glass!

Wow, I'm so impressed! And you've only been engraving since 2001?! That's fabulous, and inspiring. I love the dandelions, the fine details of the seeds. Your ferns are terrific, too, so lifelike. And you do it with drills...when I've tried (very amateurishly) using a Dremel I end up getting minute chips along the edges of cuts; do you avoid that, and how? I've thought of trying to use water to cool the glass, but don't know if that makes a difference. Maybe my Dremel doesn't work at high enough speed; what rpms do your tools run at?

Sue, I lift my hat! What a wonderful handicraft(ing?)! (Sorry, bad English, lacking right word) :hiclp:
Kristi, gold and silver dremeling works wonderful with sewing machine oil 8) - hope, Sue will have a better idea for glass?? :D Never tried myself, but should perhaps like to for repairs

Pamela, that sounds interesting...do you mean engraving in solid silver/gold?

yes. it's not getting too hot - also good for your dremel tools - hard to explain, I would call it: you really SPAN the material??? sorry if completely wrong in English - just try :D
