Title: Tall Stretched Bubble Dimpled Bottle Vase
Post by: ckscot on September 07, 2008, 02:37:00 PM
Not sure if the title really covers it but I can't think how best to describe this brute.  It's 18" tall x 5.5" in diameter, and weighs almost 1.4kg with three huge dimples(?) dents (?) and a rough pontil mark on the base.  I have a feeling I'd seen something like it in a previous thread but can't locate it.  Any info on manufacturer, date, country etc would be very welcome.  Thanks, Iain

Looks as if you've got yourself a piece of the green, green glass of Empoli. Not sure if yours is Vetreria Etrusca or Toso Bagnoli or Rossini, but it almost certainly is from the 1950-1970 period. At 18" I think it counts as a floor vase.

Thanks Ivo, that's a great help - I'll do some ferretting and see what more I can find using the names you mention.  Regards, Iain
