HI
Thought i would ask the members if any one collects Atomisers, as i could not sleep i took some photo's of a atomiser i recently bought my wife,
A Thomas Webb which is 7" high and 2.5" in width, until now i have not really took much notice but can see that these atomisers, can or could be quite collective, do we have any members whom collect them ? please, ahh and any idea what year this atomiser might have came from, 50s or earlier? the base is acid marked Thomas Webb England.
Cheers
Steve

Looks later than 50's to me if you see what good condition the puffer and gold bits are. Factories still making them here.
-
Hi Pat.
The reason i was saying the 50s was because of the acid etch on the base saying England Thomas Webb, could that have been added do you thnk ?

I think we need to see the mark Steve, but Ivo's book gives a mark that sounds like yours as 1980-1990
-
1980s sounds right for the metalwork to me.
-
Hi Christine,& Frank.
The mark is very faint how would i go about making clear to take a photo of ? any ideas please. the top and puffer look great but you can tell there is some wear to them, these photo's are the best i could do standing on my head ;D you may just make the name out,

cheers thats spot on, think i might try and collect a few more Atomisers.

Ivo reckons 1966-1980 was THOS WEBB ENGLAND

I'm not going to comment on the atomiser because it's an area I've got little experience of and I'm sure the information that's been offered on it already is sound, however with regard to the points raised about the condition of the puffer - I just wanted to say that these are very easy to replace. I've recently bought a new puffer and tassel from a specialist website for a 1950s atomiser - so it's probably wise to totally ignore puffers when trying to date atomisers.

I fiddled around with mark images and it is clearly stencil/sand-blasted.
The 1977 catalogue in the Glass Study shows the Thos. Webb as the trademark and contains no atomisers, although EC did produce one that year (Same catalogue) and that had a chromed fitting. link (http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=2899&category_id=182&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=51)
