Title: Large Amethyst Glass Vase with Blue Veins
Post by: chloe on September 23, 2008, 08:41:56 PM
I adore this vase, it's incredibly heavy, thick glass and about 40cm high.  The blue 'veins' seem to be inside the glass as it bulges to both sides where they are.  Sorry - can you tell I'm not very good with my glass vocab?!  If anyone could offer any insight into it I'd be grateful - even if it's junk!  The bottom has a poliished out pontil, but unmarked

Nice vase, the technical term would be "irregular threading marvered in". Both the amethyst shading and the heavy base scream Poland to me.

Fab, thank you!  Where can I start with Polish glass (since every Google search thinks I'm trying to polish the glass!)?  Or is it unlikely I'll get anywhere with it?  Any idea of the value of such a piece - is it just aesthetic

Chloe, your Photobucket images have vanished, can you add copies back into the board for reference please?
