I have just aquired these two lovely bowls, both smokey brown colour, and I wonder if they may be Whitefriars or, knowing me, maybe not

This one looks like a hat, and has a lovely ground pontil.

This one has a green foot, and is really good quality and heavy.

This one shows the tops of both, both the bases have ground pontils.
Many thanks
Barbara.

Hi BJB.
The second is almost WF i am 95% sure but just need to check some more, i say this because on ebay there is a sale with 40Pieces up and on the table is this vase, ebay number is 120308977376, a great buy here for some lucky collector or dealer.

Hi Barbara,
Sorry, but I don't think either piece is W/f. [and there are certainly some oddities within that link to eBay :( ]
Ebay as a reference? :o

The first piece might (and only might) be by JE Bang for Holmegaard, c.1929-36. But I wouldn't like to give a definite yay or nay based on the photographs without actually handling the piece or finding the shape in a catalogue.
My guess is based on the bowl, pitcher and decanter illustrated on pages 5-6 of Glashistorisk Selskab Holbæk's 2007 JE Bang exhibition catalogue, which can be viewed here: http://www.glashistoriskselskab.dk/images/stories/JacobBangOgGlasset.pdf

Hi Steve, to reiterate Nigel's point - to use the info in eBay listings as a way of positively identifying items is inadvisable and unreliable in the extreme.

Many thanks for all your thoughts :)
Steve, I will try to upload the the WF site, but have had some problems getting the pics on lately.
Nigel, if you manage to get here next week you can have a look personally, it was the second one I though maybe but it was the green foot which threw me, and as for that link, well above my price range and as you say a few "odd" pieces.
Nic, I really did wonder if they may be Scandinavian, what with the colour of the first one ,the shape and the good quality of the glass itself. I will have a look at the link now.
Thanks,
Barbara

Well let me know when/if you feel like selling them - I might be interested in them as speculative items to handle and research in my own time, as I do really like both of them. Hopefully you'll catch me on a day when I have money going spare. ;D
