Title: Can anyone ID this paperweight?
Post by: kazucu on September 27, 2008, 12:03:40 PM
I just bought the paperweight below at a boot fair as it fascinated me.  Does anyone know if it is old or modern, and who it was made by, or any interesting facts about how they make these?  It has a green and gold fleck base, with large waisted bubble in the centre with a clear bubble ring around its middle.
Thanks

I'm not too good with that style of paperweight but I do know that several makers have produced work of that type, including ones in the UK and Sweden. But from the overall look of this one, I suspect it is recent Chinese.

I'd go for the 'still warm from the Chinese kiln' attribution as well. I've seen very similar ones on the Chinese manufacturers' websites.
