Seller wrote me a very snarky reply when I suggested her piece was Chinese. She told me she has specialized in identifying and collecting art glass for 35 years. Even veterans make mistakes but one like this? (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320296263594&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123)

"Veteran experts" write reviews like this one (http://reviews.ebay.com/HOW-to-IDENTIFY-FAKE-MURANO-GLASS-LISTED-on-EBAY_W0QQugidZ10000000000026541), apparently! ::)

Oooh. No wonder they didn't take my suggestion well. They are a super expert!
-
That one has quite a reputation ;)
-
Oh? I toolhaused their feedback and there are a lot comments about the seller's attitude. The guide is helpful but it teaches nothing about identifying glass.
I still think I should write a book. :P

In that link stated there, if you scroll down - it states: Very Rare, Unusual Big Opalescent Seashell with a Label Gee, I have one just like that of the same (rare ?) style  http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,18048.0.html
I don't think that bowl style is rare - and I may not know much, but the paperweight even looks Chinese to me : )

And of course, the gold 'dust' is nothing of the sort, just gold foil stretched.
-
An expert - someone who knows more and more about less and less till they end up knowing everything about nothing! ;D
-
Ah...those listings and guide gave me quite a chuckle! Thanks! :D :hiclp:
-
Toolhaused? forgive my ignorance, but is that something like goofbay?

Toolhaus is a site that allows you to see a seller's (or buyer's) negative and neutral feedback without having to search through their positives. They have other tools on their site as well

You can click on the number in the 'Recent Feedback Ratings' box on ebay.co.uk and it will show just the negs/nuets. Doesn't work on .com and only if they're within the last 12 months on .co.uk, of course.
