Title: How I wish I could see it...
Post by: Pat on October 06, 2008, 03:34:43 PM
Acquaintances of ours have a sort of house clearance come bric a brac etc business out of a large old barn type bulding in the inner city. Called in to see them today and they said they were expecting a house clearance in with some very big furniture. They said that in the house was a floor standing clock about the size of a grandmother clock made of pink glass. You press a button on the front and it opens to reveal a cocktail cabinet. I'm now all excited and ask when I can see it.  It went to a museum though and they don't know where. I'm sure it would have been a sight for sore eyes.

OOh they are lovely, I had one once. Buy it if it is cheap enough, they sell very well. But if the glass has a crack forget it.

No idea exactly where it went and I don't think my friends had either.

I sold mine for a 4 figure sum 20 years ago. To a clock dealer, so god knows what they fetch now, course could have gone down if a lot of perfect ones have come out of the woodwork since then. Another I had with some missing/cracked glass only fetched a few pounds.
