What has happend to this fish (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=2&campid=5335820906&toolid=10001&customid=&ext=360095680627&item=360095680627)? Methinks the PY may be slipped....or even Chinese...

The weight is definitely one of the fake py items. The only thing about it that is "stunning" is that anyone who knows the least bit about Paul Ysasrt's weights could possibly think it is by one of the world's best millefiori and lampwork paperweight makers!

I emailed the seller about the three listed a few days ago ( 360092355086 360092368206 and 360092379001 ) but recieved no response and there was no change to the listings. One reached £93, one £83 and the other £155.78. Those prices alone are a clear indication that the weights are not by Paul Ysart. I just hope that none of the winners think they have a bargain.

Well, beauty (and often value) are in the eyes of the beholder. If anyone wishes to think they have an Ysart... Women pay hundreds of dollars for fake Coach and Gucci bags etc. that are so hideous, I would not carry if given as a gift! BTW, who makes these Ysart fakes??? Are they made in Scotland?

Take care.  This seller now has four 'Ysarts' up for sale on ebay.

Ask around Tzenka. just dont ask in public, because you're very unlikely to get a public reply!!

The information on fake py weights (http://www.btinternet.com/~kevh.glass/pages/fake-py/fake-py-weights.htm) that I put together in 2003 is still a good reference and I have had no comments from anyone saying that anything I have said is incorrect.

The fakes were made nearly 20 years ago by person(s) unknown. They come up for sale every so often in all sorts of places. There was a time when batches of 12 or 13 were offered for sale through auction rooms and elsewhere.

You are unlikely to get an accurate answer as the small number of people who know the full story will not tell. What you will get is half truths and rumours - often attributed to me. There were several people involved and they were made in Scotland. I will publish when they are all dead.
