Title: Paperweight ID = Clichy
Post by: tzenka on October 08, 2008, 12:34:20 AM
I had couple of my "mystery" paperweights ID-ed so fast, I've decided to ask for help with everything I am not 100% sure about.

What do you guys think of this one? The base is slightly concave and polished. The paperweight is just trashed (thank God no cracks though!); all facets are chipped, but the crystal is still clearer and sparklier than anything else I have!

Picture 1 was taken from the top; 2 is side view, three is showing base, and 4 is taken from the base

It says "Clichy" to me.

Thanks guys! Ever since I got it, I had named it "the Baccarat Dupont" in my mind; I thought the canes were similar to theirs... but I was never sure. After you said Clichy, I searched under Clichy faceted and I saw two very similar (minus the roses). Yay! I guess I'd better have it professionally re-finished.

Man. I've been looking at your paperweight finds and I'm jealous.

O... The ones above are not mine... I was just comparing with the one at the top, which I had the crazy luck to find on eBay for two bucks! It was offered as a lot together with another very unattractive paperweight, and the picture that showed up was that of the "bad" one; so, nobody noticed the Clichy (well, at the time I didn't know it was a Clichy, I just thought "hm, this might be something").

I have been pretty lucky though! This is my newest acquisition, just got it in the mail!

I think the images in post 4 might be non-poster copyright too and need removing. Are they?

Christine raises a valid point.

Tsenka, please let me know the URL for the Clichy comparison photos and, with my Moderator hat on, I will change the pics to links.

For newer folk, it can sometimes be easy to unknowingly include images which are not permitted in the board. Generally, this applies to any image for which the poster does not have copyright or does not have permission from the copyright holder (usually the person who took the photo). Unfortunately, the Board Guidelines do not currently give explicit advice about this, but the committee had, earlier this year, discussed such an extension. I will check the situation.

Thank you, I was not aware of these issues. I saw Internet images on everybody else’s messages, and I did not know there was a difference between having a link to an image, and having the image itself. Of course, when you think of it, that makes a lot of sense!

The images in “reply 3” (the Clichy’s) are from the Net. I own the paperweight in “reply 5”, but I can re-take the photos. Cheers!

BTW, I don’t know how to include links to messages on your site — how is this done please?

Thanks for understanding, Tsenka.

Simplest way to include a URL is simply to copy it from the browser address bar for the webpage visited and paste it into the text area when posting a message.
