Title: Paperweight ID
Post by: tzenka on October 08, 2008, 02:07:51 AM
This looks somewhat like a Murano, but no way it is a Murano with this pontil! What do you think?

Mod: Copyright images removed (as per info below).

You have a New England Glass Company scramble or end of day weight from about 1870.  Congratulations.

Looks more like antique Venetian scrambled to me with the aventurine.

I agree with antique Murano - I left a small bid and was away from the comp when the auction ended.
A nice price for antique Murano :)

Gotta ask tho - are these images yours? If not best not to add them to the post due to copyright concerns.

::)It never occurred to me that there could be copyright to non-art images... I've been looking for an option to delete the photos, but I can't find anything.

Yes, you are correct.  I missed the aventurine the first time I looked.  Sorry for the misinformation.

For the record, now that the copyright images have gone, the weight in question was rather like this one of mine, which also has a definite pontil mark (and has smooth grinding, too!):

I think the non-copyright images are here (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,23380.0.html)
