Title: Baccarat ? Don't think so...
Post by: tropdevin on October 13, 2008, 04:45:13 PM

This paperweight (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?type=2&campid=5335820906&toolid=10001&customid=&ext=170271081753&item=170271081753) may well be from the Alsace area - or Belgium or Germany or Bohemia - but Baccarat, no!

German or Belgian... I have several of these, and they came from Germany. I was looking at that one yesterday and thinking "Do I have Baccarat's in my collection or???"

Dont you love the statement "With a polished concave base and basal ring the paperweight also has a partially polished pontil mark which we have been advised is common on earlier Baccarat examples"

I could plant flowers in the advice some of these sellers claim they've had. ;D

Don't be unkind! Credit where credit is due -  they have, after all, correctly identified it as a paperweight!  ;D And if you count "colour spatter" that's almost a 50% accurate description!!
