This is the second piece I bought and I like this one it is 8" (20cm) wide, 4 1/2" (11cm) high and weighs 2.14lbs or 1.3kg. Would love to know what you think about it. Although it is vintage I suspect its not complex enough to be screamingly interesting to you all but its what I could get my hands on and these days I am thankful for any mercies.

Nice piece, but I have doubts it's Murano. To my mind that looks more Chalet than your other piece or even Czech

Oh! my god have I stumbled over a hidden group of renegade Canadians all living in western nsw. Well it all gets very interesting anyway.
Thanks Christine for your opinion on this one as well.

There may well be other possibilities as well, some of them closer to home. Crown Crystal had a 'Venetian' range of lumpy stuff, but I've only ever seen three pieces and no catalogues. At this point it could be anything. While it's not unheard of, there doesn't seem to be a great deal of Chalet in Australia.

Could it be Japanese?

Hi Cathy thanks for that and it does make more sense. I have done a search on the internet and cant come up with anything like it in Crown but that doesnt mean a thing.
Will keep my eyes open and ask around on my next trip (Early December) to Young and the area I went last time.

Difficult question. Maybe start here by researching some of the names.

When I was in Japan in the mid eighties I was surprised by what could be termed the influence of Murano on Japanese glass. There was also a flow of ideas with artists such as Kyohei Fujita working with Murano masters and then exhibiting his work in Japan, and internationally.

Thanks for that aa I will look at some of these sites.

Could it be Japanese?
Japanese was my guess, but I don't know for sure and didn't want to speculate too much. There seems to be a lot of Japanese art glass here, but I have no more information than that. Try googling on Hineri.
Crown's Venetian line is also something I know very little about, other than that it exists.
