Title: Commercial Glass Engraving
Post by: debi on October 20, 2008, 11:13:54 AM
Hi,

I am looking for a couple of companies who are able to surface engrave onto bottles in the UK. The product will be filled with drink, so will need to be safe for this.

Does anyone know anyone who will be able to supply quotes and samples? There may be upto 10,000 bottles.

Many thanks,
Debi

first question is, of course, where?

UK please. Unless of course the engraving and shipping is cheaper abroad/shipped.

Thanks so much.

I wouldn't have a clue, but your question has me curious...do you mean actually cutting of the glass with a wheel, or are you thinking of acid etching?  What do you want on the bottles - words and/or designs?

Scotland is a hotbed of engravers and most, but not all, could do what you want using sandblast engraving.

Here is a LIST (http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?option=com_weblinks&catid=32&Itemid=23) of some.

You could get it done in China but then you have to add a 6 week delivery and for such a small order better to stay local as the cost difference would not be huge. Particularly as the bottles will be filled and would need shipping to China. Another option is to ask the producer of the contents for a price for special bottling.
