I bought this some 20 years ago and I do have an undocumented attribution for this - but would be interested if anyone else can recognise it as that attribution could be incorrect. It is probably not a production piece, another (of the pair) is in the V&A and it was most likely made in the 1930s.

Hi Frank its Orrefors Sandvik 1952 pattern hs 1329 JP :chky:
-
I have one in green - HS = Edward Hald the designer. nice vase Frank. JP

Smashing my private myth :-\ ;)
How certain is that? Assuming you are correct, I presume the damaged handle trashes the value as an Orrefors piece? Frees it up for flowers. Do you have a picture of yours?
The attribution I had was Salvador Ysart - from a source that was mostly reliable but I always had my doubts and hence it has stayed out of the public eye. 8)

Its in the Orrefors catalogues page 311

I should have said The Swedish Glass Factories Production Catalogues 1915 -- 1960 by Prestel

Hi,
Am I missing something here?
I just checked the reference that you've given John, as I've often wondered who these were by, but the vase illustrated as HS 1329 is a different shape to the one that Frank has shown, even though there are strong similarities.
The shape shown in the book appears to have some moulding to the base, which then rises as a tumbler form with gradual everted rim. There is no bulging ridge at about the mid-point, and the loop handles are different; they do not reduce in size as they go down the vase, and there are only three loops.
I haven't gone through the rest of the Sandvik catalogues, so have you just quoted the wrong page?
Cheers, Nigel

You have seen more of these Nigel? If so that would still dispose of my attribution as there was only one pair made in that story.
As I said, I always had doubts and as there is no of verifying it... other than by finding another provable attribution.

Hi Nigel yes i agree there is a slight difference in the shape of the one in the book but mine is identical to Franks and i was told by two auction houses that it was Orrefors mind you that was 15 years ago when i believed what i was told by auction houses also they said the colour was right . I rest my case your honour . JP
