Title: Abstract cut crystal bowl...
Post by: Martyn K on October 27, 2008, 06:06:41 PM
Does anyone have any ideas who made this bowl, we bought it years ago and sorting out storage have just found it again but still don't recognise it...I'm guessing 1970s?

20cm (8in) diameter, 10cm (4in) high, the foot was blown seperately and attached, hand cut and polished random abstract design around outside, unmarked.

Many thanks,
Martyn.

Martyn - the cutting looks very like that on my Vladimir Zahour jardiniere.

Hi Martyn,

I have three pieces with this cutting of random tiriangular polished cuts, two are marked. The earliest that I can date the pattern is 1964 in a publication that has a large square section vase with a matching deep square section ash tray.

Wonderful cutting. These things are at last beginning to be recognised and understood - mainly as a result of the work of people like Graham Cooley and Mark Hill and, of course, Marcus whose upcoming book is now eagerly awaited (especially as I was lucky enough to have a good look at it recently ;) - I for one can't wait to get a copy).

Cheers, Nigel
