Hi Newbie! It seems you are trying to upload pictures which exceed the maximum size of 125 k per picture. They're too large, so you'll have to reduce the size. If you use MSoffice there is a great facility for this called Microsoft Office Picture Manager (right click any picture to see which programs are available) - or you can use your usual photo software.

Btw. try and avoid writing in ALLCAPS. It makes people nervous.

Hi B and welcome to the board. Let's see if we can help... firstly,  to post a new query you need to be on the topic listing screen for the forum - that's where you'll find the New Topic button - it's not possible to post a New Topic from within an existing topic as you've found.   I've added a screenshot so you know which button to look for on the topic listing screen.

Now for a paperweight query you'd need to be in the Paperweights forum (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php?board=8.0) rather than Glass as that's where all the folks who know about them will be hanging about waiting to help. :)

And finally, your pictures... it depends on which software you use for your pictures as to how the resize works - they all vary a little. I find the best way to do it is to use the resize option in pixels, and set the dimensions to around 700 x 500 pixels, and if there's an optimise for web option use that to scrunch the file size down. The file should come in well under the 125kb limit that way.

We have a Board Info forum here: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php?board=22.0 where you'll find all sorts of useful tips to help you use the board, including one for posting pictures:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,6522.0.html .

If all else fails and your pictures won't scrunch down small enough, add your question in Paperweights anyhow and send me copies of your pictures via email and I'll resize them and add them to your post for you.

If we can help more just ask.  ;D

Oh and by the way, can I just ask you to use normal case not all capitals for posts please?  All caps = shouting on the internet and some people find it upsetting and/or harder to read.

Ampersand - Have you resized your pictures to make sure they aren't too big? I make mine 400 pixels as the maximum dimension (I think)
###########

Thank you for this.  I have no idea how to do it, but will try and find out.

Thankyou to all of you who are trying to help, and apologies to Mod Anne, for my illplaced cry for help.
Yes, I have seen that my pix do each exceed the 125 limit, but see my camera is set at Image Size VGA 640x480 - all other settings are 4-fig no.s which I assume, doubtless wrongly, to mean BIGGER! There is nothing in my instruction book about re-sizing, or it's more likely that I don't understand what to look for and follow.
I will paste the text that I wrote with the pix(at least I saved that to MS Works after losing it umpteen times.)....well, so much for that, it didn't save, so I must start yet again.
Yes, Anne - I had posted in the paperweight forum, but there it was that I had the problems, so was seeking a way to post anywhere!
I have been looking at irfanview but don't know which downloading to do and can't immediately see the magic 'resizing' word.  The tutorial mentioned does not open.
My original post included thanks to Pip of Pip'sTrips for directing me here, after she had most kindly responded to an unsolicited query of mine. My bag was stolen 8 days ago from the locked boot of my locked car in a Tesco carpark(CID Prints Officer showed me how it had been done)and I am desperate to try and recoup something at a Fair next weekend, having paid for that stall just a couple of hours before going out to shop. £80 is a very big investment for me and I had hoped to take some glass and new knowledge with me.
Even more apologies for the upper case - I was not wanting to annoy people - but thought I ought not to detract from the true subject without separating my inept post from it somehow.
I had read the posting pictures advice, and have re-read it, but without any real understanding, so will gratefully accept your kind offer and email pics to you.
I'm not sure about a software answer. I seem to have 4 or 5 sorts of things which try to copy my pics and I have to close a lot of them before finding the camera wizard one I use buried underneath. Often I have to extract the card and then reinsert it, hoping to quickly be able to click on the right one before U-lead, Adobe and others spring up.
I will now try to find the microsoft office manager.
Thankyou all so much again.

I've added your paperweight pics to the topic over in weights, and done the other two pieces for you - follow these links:

Step 1:  Open up Irfanview
Step 2:  Open up the picture you wish to resize
Step 3:  Click on Image (third from the left)
Step 4:  Click on Resize/Resample
Step 5:  On the right hand side of the screen, you will see a series of different size ratios. Click on 640 x 480 and hit the okay button
Step 6:  Click on file and then resave the picture with a slightly different name (thereby preserving the original).
Step 7:  Try uploading again. (Make sure you chose the new picture, not the original). If it is still too big, repeat Steps 1 to 4 using the new picture
Step 5:  On the left hand side of the screen, click where it says "set new size as percentage of original" and set the percentage as 75. Click okay button.
Step 6 to 7 Repeat as before.

Then your pictures should work.

Good luck.

Carolyn

Great, thanks Carolyn. I've added it with a credit in the stickie here:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,6522.0.html and the failed link to David's IrfanView tutorial has been fixed as well. :)
