Title: Need more eyes to examine this blue dolphin candlestick

Hi!

I'm Mel, and I'm very new to collecting glass. I posted this on the ebay board a while back, but only a few wonderful folks responded. I sent an inquiry to the Sandwich glass museum at their suggestion, but haven't heard back yet. In the meantime, I was hoping to maybe get a few more opinions on whether or not this could be original. I know it's tough to tell based on only pics, but I was hoping someone here would be an expert on these things. Anyway, the candlestick is peacock blue, clear and approx. 10 inches tall. It has bubbles throughout. It's not marked Imperial or MMA, as some had asked previously. It does have a wafer. It doesn't look like any kind of newer glass I've ever seen. Any thoughts? The reason that I wanted to get some more opinions was because there was some disagreement about the stick based on the color. Some of the folks thought that the blue color made it very unlikely to be an original instead of a repro. Has anyone seen a 19th century dolphin candlestick or heard of one in clear blue?

I guess Green Valley auctions sold a pair of clear blue ones recently, but they were pieced together and cobalt, not the peacock blue like these.

Well for what its worth it is of BS design, its not IG or Westmoreland & BS made what some call a "dirty" blue. It has the wafer & offhand I think it has a shot at being legit even though these have been reproed for decades. Ken.

thanks for the info - I will have to see if I can find pics of "dirty blue." The bubbles in the glass do give it a strange appearance.

I took a better picture with more light to try to show the color more accurately. I signed up for a free trial of artfact and found several examples of blue dolphins that looked kind of similar - some were called electric blue, some sapphire, and some turquoise.
