Title: Cloud Glass Jar/Vase
Post by: chloe on November 05, 2008, 02:36:10 PM
Hi

I cant seem to find a maker of cloud glass with an example of this colour!  Ground & polished pontil to base.

Any suggestions muchly appreciated  :)

I'm not sure this is cloud glass Chloe. It could be streaky, or some other type. Cloud glass is not normally cased clear as this one appears to be. That's the limit of my knowledge on this, no idea who it could be by, sorry. :)

Very modern Polish would be my first guess.

Thanks all - I should start to realise soon that anything with this pontil base, which isn't anything else I can identify (like WF) ends up being Polish!

As with the colour of the glass, the absence or presence of a pontil mark and it's type have to be considered in the context of the other aspects of the glass.

A lot of Polish glass is very good quality and in some cases (stuff with an LSA label, for example) can be quite sought after.

so would this not be considered 'cloud' glass then?

And Polish glass - yes, I like quite a few of the pieces I have, my favourite is an amethyst to clear vase with blue trailing I think i've posted on here before.  Are there any good resources for learning about the Polish factories?
