Greetings, I have just purchased this lovely globe shaped vase with very small controlled bubbles-very precise indeed. Clear glass 9cm D with a small opening and a slightly concave polished base. Is the attribution to Kosta correct (if not then who?)and any ideas on when it was made. Photos for your consideration TIA Carol.

Nope that attribution is not correct. The candle stick (a.k.a. spijkerbol/ nail ball) was designed by Andries Copier and made by Leerdam. It has been in production for a very long time - at least from the thirties to the sixties or later, and has been taken into production again a few years back. There are several sizes. You can find these on antique markets in the Netherlands for anything from 35 Euros upwards (normally around 60); the new ones are costing twice that.

Many thanks Ivo,my first piece of Leerdam! Are there any sites or books that you would recommend for further information? Many thanks Carol

you can try http://www.hogelandshoeve.nl/ - Jay can probably also tell you exactly when the nail ball was introduced.
