Title: Stumped
Post by: glasstrufflehunter on November 08, 2008, 09:32:31 AM
I'm certain this is a Murano piece, but I am stumped as to specific maker. It has a squat profile, flat windows, flat base and is almost 4 inches in diameter. The overlay is a deep rosy shade of red. The photos give it a warmer cast than it actually has.

The weight has a fake Baccarat mark that I could not get to show in the photos.

I saw another weight like it up for auction that had a blue overlay.

Hello :......a faked Baccarat mark: such are the italians like ( is that right english?).
I have been on the island MURANO sometimes und have about over 40 Muranoweights.
I think, non italian faker is known by name or manufacture (like the Ysart-faker).
I would like to know them, if possible.
Regards.

I am guessing the mark was added later by someone else other than the maker. I have seen fake Baccarat marks on Czech weights as well.
