Hi, can anyone help me identifying my vase. It is 8" tall and very heavy with a polished base which is not flat (it has like a pontil covering the base of the glass, sorry for my poor description!). It is blue tinged and has a ribbed effect. The base is slighter narrower than the top of the vase so it is not completely straight sided but almost. I think it is probably by Stromberg but it is similar to a Whitefriars vase listed in their catalogue. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Hi, you might like to try the Whitefriars forum, it looks like this one here, but i am no expert, and you would surely get some help there.

Hi, thanks for that. I have actually posted this on the Whitefriars site but have had no firm identification. Thanks anyway for taking the time to reply. Regards, Kerry.

A number of firms have produced these types of vases over the decades, in Europe as well as England and Scandinavia - I think you'll be hard-pressed to get a definitive attribution, or even a definitive production period as this kind of design has been on the go since at least the 1930s.
I've a couple of optic-ribbed vases sat in my 'Not Sure' box of glass.

Thanks for that and responding to my other item, I will have to live with it as an unknown!

Don't give up on it, it can sometimes take years to turn up an ID, we keep reviewing older unidentified posts every few months in case new info or new members can help with them. 8)
