Title: SNAKE WEIGHT - ???
Post by: gemmacler on November 25, 2008, 06:10:02 PM
Hi all
Pictured is a nice snake weight, clear crystal, applied goldy bronze snake with odd yellow eyes. Its unmarked, and seems very good quality work. I thought I would be able to find other examples but have so far drawn a blank. Has anybody seen similar ?  Or knows who made it ?
Best wishes
Gem

This is the nearest I can get - an American paperweight by Correa but it is quite like yours

Wow
I like your weight, it looks art nouveau, presumably its modern ? I bought my weight because it seemed fun, the eyes in particular, but when I had a good look at it, I thought it was superior craftsmanship, - very heavy, even for a paperweight - had a good old google/ebay/what-have-you assuming I'd see at least one or two the same and didn't. I did see what a long tradition of snakes in weights there are - Baccarat on. Interesting. My Mr Snake will have to join the mystery section.
Regards
