The style of canes in this paperweight (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=2&campid=5335820906&toolid=10001&customid=&ext=270306485076&item=270306485076) and the fake date of 1852 seem to go together fairly often - what is the true date of manufacture - 1960s / 1970s? Any views?

Hi Alan
Here is my Murano Mushroom with fake date cane. I have seen about 4 or five weights
in different mushroom designs, eg with torsade or with a swirl surrounding the base, and I know these were made in the 1950's but it is difficult to tell when these used thes fake date canes and your suggestion that this weight could be 1960's or later is perfectly reasonable

Both weights look like Fratelli Toso.
That mushroom is unusually well-executed for a Murano weight.

I agree the latticino paperweight looks like Fratelli Toso. They did several weights that had the year canes. I don't think they were attempting to deceive about the age of the weight, but I've never read an explanation of why they included the special canes. Maybe they were just a gimick to sell to collectors?? The style of the paperweights with the canes look 1960s to me.
