Title: Whitefriars Paperweight Info- THANKS!!!
Post by: gottahaveglass on December 01, 2008, 12:42:02 AM
Hello Everyone!  :)
We recently purchased this Whitefriars weight and have scoured the internet for more info on it but found nothing! This design looks like a Colin Terris as it is very similiar to a cut Butterfly II weight he did in 1982. Any ideas? Also, is the cane date 1986 or 1989? It is a limited edition paperweight (17/200); an ideas as to the value? It is signed "Whitefriars   Butterfly for the Mole Hole   Scotland". Our many thanks to you!  Happy collecting!

Hi Lenore.
This will have been made by caithness as i am almost sure they bought the paper weight arm from whitefriars before they closed or as they closed, i will have to read though my MOL book, and find out, but the date is 1986, take a look at this, seems to be a cut one with the same pattern, http://tinyurl.com/56gc3t you could always take a look here too, might help, http://www.whitefriars.com/ under the paper weight section

If i find any thing in the MOL book i will report back.
                                                                    good luck Sg
