I purchased these two pieces which appear to be from the same series here in Virginia / US. The majority of the collection was 1960's / 70's.
Both about 4 1/2" high, the footed bowl being 5 1/4" at the top rim.
Both have a nicely done polished flat foot and finished, polished recessed pontil.
My initial thought was Scandinavian, perhaps Kosta or Ekenas. Am I on the right track?
Thanks in advance for looking!

They look like Murano pieces. I don't recognize your glass, but these styles of bullicante pieces were done quite often by Fratelli Toso and Barbini. The style could, of course, been copied by others. If no one in the general glass board has an idea, someone in the Murano board may know something more definite.

Very nice pieces. They look almost like reticello, where a bubble is created in the intersection where two threads of filigrana cross at 90 degrees. Does that seem likely? It also looks like there might be some unmelted inclusions in the glass. Possible?
I've seen something very similar recently, so I'll keep looking.

I have seen a bowl just like that but with a thinner foot it was signed Kosta it even had the artists signature but i cant remember who it was but it was one of the well known male artists - perhaps Bill Geary will know ?

Thanks all for your input, and Martyn for the pic and id.

The white is nice, but I like the blue better. Very pretty. I would have never suspected Vallien without a signature. Good catch, Martyn.

The technique and colours (the blue of Snesbit and the white if Martyn K) look very much like the Flamenco series by Goran Warff for Kosta Boda. However, the shapes are nothing like this. Is it possible the auction house got it wrong? Martyn, have you seen a reference in a book or a signed piece? (I guess I want them to be by Warff as I like his stuff and Vallien's less so. And I like these pieces.)

Sorry David...definitely Vallien, you are just going to have to like some of his designs.

Sigh. Change made. I confess I do like some of Vallien's work. I wonder when this piece was designed. Is it an older piece? BTW, the Goran Warff vase is pictured in the 2000 Kosta Boda catalogue.

JP: Thanks for heads up on the Vallien pieces. Very nice. My lack of appreciation (previous) to Vallien was, I think, based on the fact that many of his pieces are relatively simple, relying on their effect on a few superficial splashes of colour. But, now that I think about it, I can think of some designers that I like (Kedelv, Lindstrand, Motzfeltd, e.g.) for pretty much the same reasons. Time to re-evaluate.
Thanks again.
