Title: Kosta Karlsberg decanter?
Post by: brywil1970 on December 13, 2008, 08:20:59 PM
Does anyone know if Kosta made a decanter in the Karlsberg pattern?  I have a seven inch stoppered bottle that has ten cut sides and a ten sided flat stopper.  It is signed Kosta a has a 4 digit number.  I can't upload pics, because I left the cable for my camera at work.

Both the 1986 and 1994 Kosta Boda catalogues show the Karlberg (no s in there) line but only in glasses. Kosta Boda went to a five number system in the early 70's so your four number version would be earlier. Decanters made during the 5 number system had 8 as the first number. Anyone have an older catalogue? Good luck.

Nice decanter, albeit empty. I see the similarity. Is there a designer code there? I can't quite make it out. It should be BH for Elis Bergh. Come to think of it, that means it's a fairly old design, well before the 1986 catalogue I mentioned. Didn't Bergh leave Kosta in ca 1950?

The code looks like "Kosta # 1722" but the "#" could be a stylized "B".  It kind looks like the drawing below
