Title: HUTY SZKŁA "JOZEFINA" W KROŚNIE, Poland. Any info??
Post by: Sklounion on January 04, 2009, 12:02:41 PM
Hi,

a request for help, please, with the above company.

What we know:

The company were based in Krosno, Poland, and were around after WWII.
They manufactured pressed glass.
It is not the same Polish company that has a web-presence, as Huta Szkla Jozefina's web-site says they have only been in existence for 23 years, and make off-hand glass.
There is no reference to the factory on www.pressglas-korrespondenz.de
It does not appear in Glass-Study.
It is not Josephinenhutte.

Anyone have any books which refer to the factory?

TIA,

Marcus

It is not Josephinenhutte.

Or is it? Any views on the veracity of info suggesting Krosno as the location?
Trade-mark is Polish but uses the same shape and symbol of Josephinenhutte Graf Schaffgotsch'schen at Schweabische Gmeund, so has my Polish correspondent made an error?

Schweabische Gmeund appears to be lead crystal, and hand-worked.

Is Karstal in Silesia anything to do with the issue... as the German name for Krosno = Krossen?

Or did the immediate post-war period split a pressed glass factory from the section of the company which remained in Germany?

Regards,

Marcus
