I was wondering if anybody can tell me about this piece.  We have only been able to find a match on one website so far.

It looks a bit like WMF Ikora.   :huh:

Edit:  Strike that, the rim is completely wrong.

Forget Ikora which is always clear cased - this certainly is tin crackle ("tincracquelé").  Question is, whodunnit. The technique is associated with Leerdam/ Copier but you'd expect it to be properly finished and stamped. This one looks as if the bottom is unfinished and that would make it a second, or something by Kristalunie Maastricht.  Maybe you best ask Willem Botterweg - he is most familiar with this type of glass. www.botterweg.com/

Thank you for your replies. I got this piece from my grandpa who died several years ago and I was browsing some sites to see if I could identify it. I came accross http://www.in-stijl.com/ and saw the bowl and it was listed as Copier but the poster said it was signed all over. I don't see any signatures but the bowl looks identical. I will take your advice and ask Willem Botterweg thanks again so much for your replies.

The one on In-Stijl is unsigned. Not sure what he means by "signed all over" though, perhaps he means the attribution is because of the technique! What is interesting is both have bubbles in the metal and the on-line one also has a textured centre.

Hi,

An explanation of the term, "signed all over":

This usually means that the piece is its own signature. If you prefer, it is a shorthand way of saying that it could not be by anyone else, since everything about it suggests that it could only be produced by the person/manufacturer being referred to .... (in this case Leerdam - in the opinion of the seller in question).

It does not mean that there is a physical signature that you can read.

Thanks again for your replies. I spoke to my mother who said my grandpa had the piece given to him by a dutch couple that had lived close by to him back in around 1964. It would make sense if it was a dutch piece. He was living in Alberta Canada at the time so the piece is a long way from it's origin if of course it is indeed a dutch piece. I hope someone may be able to reconize it and let me know if it is a Copier.
