Could someone please help me identify this strange caged glass object, apart form maybe being a jar:-)

This particular lantern isn't Whitefriars though, is it John?  Is it a video of glass being blown into a cage?   :)

For what it's worth....All the similar items I have seen came from the far east.

Looks like it has a lid? Probably not a lantern. Such things, as hanging lampshades, have been made widely. Nazeing, Whitefriars, France, US and elsewhere.
