Hi folk,
I purchased this small clear vase on the weekend (cheaply of course) because I was intrigued with the raised base mark, which was simply the letter B.
Any ideas who the B refers to please?
Thanks
Bryn

It looks like the raised mark at the top says 'Italy' - thought it might be pertinent to mention it.

Hi Pip,
I'm not sure, it could be Italy I suppose from the 3rd figure on. The first figure is clearly? a number 2, I can't really make out any of the other figures at all, from an angle the 3rd could be a letter I and the fourth could be a t. My eyesight is not great but that's all I can make out. Apart from the 2 they just look like a line of blobs to me even under a magnifier.

Maybe Bormioli? The 'B' looks similar here...

Could well B Max but the the Bormioli B looks a little bit more flash than the one on this piece methinks.
Do you think it's a drinking glass? There is so much base on it, a bit like the old Toastmasters glasses I suppose.
Perhaps I was wrong to think it was a vase.

Vase? What size is it? I assumed it was a Schnapps or Shot glass. The Bormioli family of companies makes loads of glass in Italy. I was just thinking yours could be a slightly earlier pressed piece.
All conjecture though without someone properly ID'ing the mark. :)

Hi Bryn, I definitely think the top mark says 'Italy' - preceeded by a two digit number, 23 perhaps? I often find marks are easier to see in a photo than in the flesh - it looks quite clear to me on your photo.

Hi Max,
It's 5.5" tall.
Pip,
Your right it certainly looks like Italy in the photo. I didn't even look at that.
I thought it might have been Baccarat but obviously, coming out of Italy it wouldn't be.
Thanks both.
