Just got back from a wonderful exhibition at a new glass centre in Belgium.
The small town of Lommel in Belgium is a source of sand, ideal for glass making, and they've built a new centre to celebrate!
There's a woking glass oven in the basement, with a huge glass spire above it, frequent exhibitions from new artists, and, since yesterday, a great retrospective exhibition of factory artist-decorated and hand-painted glass from the only glass factory in Flanders; de Rupel, Boom.
They've made a real effort to display the glass well, providing good programme notes and lots of interest! Recommended for a visit if you are in the area !
Exhibitions every day except Monday until April 25th 2009.
A preview is on my website at:

Pass this on to Dudley Council >:D

There must be lots of small towns who would benefit from the investment in tourism that this represents. I was really taken aback by the achievement, especially in a town with no history of glass-making!!
