Title: I wonder what this is?
Post by: w84it on January 28, 2009, 07:51:42 PM
This has recently finished on ebay and sold for not much.

But what is it.   Murano?  Chinese?   Surely not Old English?

[One of these fine days, I'll work out how to insert a hyperlink in just a word or two, and not the full URL gibberish]

Cheers

My total non-expert guess would be Murano

However I'm really replying to the how do I insert links issue

Type word or words to describe link (http://paste the url from the bowser window without inserting a space before or after

Type)

and bingo

Stupid me!
Type
[/url

paste url from browser

type ] followed by word or words to describe link

Type

Don't have any spaces between the first [ and the final ] except in the descriptive words

To creat a link using words it should look like this ( remove spaces ):

[ url=http://www.glassmessages.com/] LINKTEXT [ /url]

Moderator: Alexander, to show how the code should look, rather than insert spaces, just use the Code tag - it's the button with the # symbol on it, which gives you the code as shown in the green box.  ;)

Code: [Select]
LINKTEXT

Hello Keith,

Over the Internet, things are often not what they seem, and you cannot easily inspect the item you are interested in. What it comes down to is the reputation and honest of the dealer. But it's on ebay so i guess it would be Murano.

Things like the condition of the piece cannot always be seen on eBay. Good photos, however can show the details of the canes or lampwork to make an identification reliably. I don't need to actually see this paperweight in person to tell if it's Fratelli Toso. I own a lot of Fratelli Toso so I can spot them pretty easily. Clichy is distinct and well-known enough by collectors that they are very easy to spot too. I harbor a hope that someday someone will stick one up and not know what it is and other collectors will somehow miss it.  ;D Not gonna happen tho.
