Hello, New here and a complete beginner so please be gentle with me! I have aquired some glass over the years, mostly from my late mother in law and I realise I know absolutely nothing about the origins of anything. Thought I'd start with this pretty, tiny, heavy bowl. It's only 4.5 inches at its widest. I would like to know what colour to call it and is it a decorative object or has it a particular purpose? I'm assuming that it isn't special enough to be identifiable but I like it.

Welcome to the board, Fen!
Your beautiful item is far off my corner of pressed glass, but I'm sure, someone will be of help!

Hi:
Welcome to the board. It looks like an interesting piece, possibly Scandinavian. A picture from the side and another of the base would really help, as I can't make out the shape. Is the base flat, or does it have a well/birdbath? I'm not sure what blue it should be called. Easier to tell from the side. I'd call it electric blue, but I'm not very reliable in naming colours.

Thank you so much for replying. I have added two pictures. It's difficult to get a good one from the side as the shape is so triangular. The other picture is of the base and yes, it does have a well and all the angles seem to replicate the top but upside down.

Sorry, here's the other picture. I'm such a beginner!

It reminds me of some Sklo Union (Czech) pressed glass pieces I have seen designed by Jurnikl. I'll check my catalogue when I get to my regular computer. If it is Sklo, I'm sure someone else will tell you soon. Sklo is highly collectible (by me, at least) and is usually reasonably priced.
